ABDULLA AL AWADI

Kuwait architect, artist and designer Abdullah Al Awadi obtained a professional degree in Architecture and Photography, and a Master in Urban Design and Town Planning at Miami University in Florida. A theatre aficionado, Abdulla worked for three years as assistant director, costume designer and makeup artist for Pangaea Productions in Miami. In Kuwaiti theatre, he has made a reputation as costume designer and choreographer, having served as assistant director and artistic adviser for Sulaiman Al Bassam Theater.

Presently, Abdulla teaches in the college of Architecture at Kuwait University, and spends time doing event planning and design, and acting as art advisor for several advertising agencies.

Recent exhibitions include two solo digital art exhibition in Dar Al Fonun, a photography exhibition at Beit Lothan, and a jewellery exhibition for The Sultan Gallery, all reputable art venues in Kuwait. He has participated in many group exhibitions locally and abroad as well. Abdulla contributed in Bashar Al-Shati’s last two albums as co/photographer and art director. He was also a participant in the watermill summer program with Robert Wilson during the summer program of 2010 and 2011.

Abdulla is one of the collaborators in the Kuwaiti pavilion in the Venice Biennale 2014 And returned to the Biannale in 2016 in a group exhibition of international artist with his carpet “shoug” Finalist at the Harper's Bazaar Arabia emerging designer of the year 2016.
